Great State of Texas

I recently on our last family vacation purchased this sign. So many great things with this sign that hangs in my kitchen.

1. It’s pink - enough said

2. Don’t mess with Texas Women - if you are a Texas woman, married to a Texas woman, or have a friend that is a Texas woman you know exactly what that means.

Therefore, that got me thinking on so many reasons why I love the state of Texas. So I decided I would share a few with you...

Reasons I love Texas

1. People have so much state pride (including myself)

2. Blue Bell Ice Cream - Nectar from Heaven!

3. Ford has a truck named, “Texas Edition” and only people from Texas would really know what that means

4. The Tex-Mex (Pappasitos) - I can hear my stomach growling...

5. Sweet tea is common - it’s a staple in my house.

6. The fact that one day it can be cold and rainy outside and the next day you can be hot and laying by your pool catching some rays - Happened too many times to count!

7. Nothing like some good ole Texas BBQ - AMEN!

8. Generally people are so friendly and you can start a conversation with a complete stranger in the grocery store - I can’t even tell you how many people I randomly start talking to in the store.

9. Football isn’t just a game in Texas - my favorite story about this...I went to see Blindside with some friends from up north. When we got to the movie theatre you had to wait in line before they opened the theatre in a section they blocked off. They were just in awe of how many people were there to see this movie. I thought it was because it got big reviews...they said "Nah. It’s a movie about football and people in Texas take that seriously.”

10. Bluebonnets. Enough said.

11. You can be in a big city and within an hour you can be in the middle of no where

12. The stars are so bright on a clear night - “The Stars at Night Are Big and Bright! Deep in the Heart of Texas!” Ok, I will stop!

13. You could drive all day and still be in Texas. - Which I have done.

14. We call all soda drinks, Coke - So confusing when you have friends from out of state.

15. The Rodeo - that includes watching the trailriders ride in

O Praise Him

This video just brought me to tears....check it out!

I love the fact that life is just going on all around him, and he is trying to hold back from bursting out so many times, and then finally he just can't take it anymore. Can't hold the passion for God back any longer. Doesn't care who sees him or what others think. All he cares about is worshipping God. How awesome is that? I love to worship God, and to think that is what I will be doing for eternity. Woohoo!!!!

What if Christians lived life not holding back from their passion for God? What if we didn't care what others thought of us? I personally threw what others thought of me out the window a long time ago. Who cares what they think? All that matters to me is what God says. I've had so many people look at me crazy while I'm in my car praising Jesus with my hands lifted. What they don't know is I am having church in my car.

What keeps you from just bursting out and praising God in the middle of life? Are you scared what others may think? Just stop today in whatever you are doing and PRAISE HIM!!!

Valentine's Day

I know most people call it a "Hallmark Holiday", but I just love love love Valentine's Day. It is just one of those fun random holidays you can celebrate love.

This year I started decorating more for each season. I had so much fun doing something for Valentine's Day! I remember as a child going to my Grandparents' house and my Grandmother always decorated for each season. Before you could even get in the house there was some type of wreath or decor hanging on her door. Then inside from her centerpieces even to her matching seasonal dishes...it was fantastic! She was amazing...that's a whole nother blog!

It's a tradition in the Oneacre House to make chocolate dipped strawberries each year for
Valentine's Day. Last year I made so many I ended up having to give some to my sweet neighbor friend. So in addition to making my chocolate dipped strawberries I also made some red velvet cupcakes filled with cream and iced with a chocolate ganache.

For all you cupcake lovers out there...I don't even know how I would transport my cupcakes without this amazing cupcake carrier. It can carry 36 cupcakes perfectly. If you are a true cupcake lover like me then I suggest investing in one. I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond. I literally take my cupcakes right out of the oven and put them straight into the carrier and seal them. It seals in all the moister and heat. Therefore, making some very yummy
cupcakes!

This year for Valentine's I made cards with 120 reasons why I love my husband and posted them all over the house for him to wake up too....he was shocked! I originally started by thinking I was only going to do like 30 or so, but the reasons just kept coming, and to be honest if I wouldn't have ran out of paper there would be many more. I loved watching him walk around and read each of them...some made him laugh, cry, or just look at me in awe. He is simply amazing!

He didn't do too bad himself. He got me tickets to go see Michael Buble in July. Now if you know me...you know this just isn't any gift. This is like one of the best gifts. I just love love love Michael Buble and his music. But just when you didn't think it could get any better my artistic husband wrote me a Valentine Poem. My man is artistic in every form...he writes poems, writes books, writes music, plays tons of musical instruments and very well...this list could just keep going on and on, but you get the idea. Anyway, I wanted to share with you his poem he wrote me.

As we wrapped up Valentine's Day, I couldn't help but reflect on the One who shows true love day in and day out. God's love. His unconditional love... so undeserving. The love He has for each of us is amazing. Once a year we stop and celebrate love to someone special in our lives, but everyday is "Love Day" with God, and everyday we should demonstrate God's love to people. The scripture talks about Christians should be known by our love for others. The lost should just know there is something different about us because of our unconditional love for people... for who they are and where they are in life. There may be someone in your life right now who just needs to be loved. Maybe it's your neighbor, friend, sibling, or maybe just the cashier at the grocery store. I don't think any other passage in the Bible talks about love greater than 1 Corinthians 13. People have heard this passage over and over again, but to stop and truly listen to what God is saying here is awesome. Love never fails. Thank goodness His love never fails us. If you get a chance, stop and read 1 Corinthians 13 this week... ask God, who in your life needs to be shown God's love through you this week.

Finally...

Welcome to my blog!!! I'm so excited to finally start this. My precious hubby has been saying for me to do this and I kept putting off by saying, "what would I even blog about?" Well, then every time I thought something or did something, of course, he would point that out to me saying I could blog about it. Therefore, here we go....

I'm so excited about what God is doing!!! He is so amazing and so faithful. I know each of you reading this has an amazing story (which I would love to hear) that He has written... don't you just love that? I love the fact God already has our story planned out but He has given us this opportunity to choose. Wow!!! I think that's why I love the hymn so much, Blessed Assurance. It talks about this life you are living is your story and praising God all day long. That's what life's all about living "your story for Him". This semester, I am currently in 5 different Bible studies. Yes, I know it's a lot, but I don't ever think you can study His word to much. Therefore, I will be sharing some of the great things I learn each week with you.

Coming soon...PiNK's website. Let me tell you a little a bout PiNK. PiNK is a ministry for girl's and girl's ministry. God gave me a passion for teenage girls and their relationship with God since I was a teenage girl. Since then He has given me the opportunity to pour His love into hundreds of girls through writing, helping churches start girls ministries, being a DNOW leader, Bible study leader, a woman following God, pouring into Girl's Directors, or just being their Girl's Director.

I count it a HUGE honor to do what I do. I have an unbelievable amount of passion for girl's and seeing them become mighty woman of God. With that said...PiNK is not just any girl's ministry, but a ministry passionate about the Spiritual growth and relationship of girls of all ages and all denominations with Jesus Christ.

I look forward to getting to know each of you.
